announces concert dates
for our 69th season

 

Gems of the Romantic Period
The Choral Guild of Atlanta opens its 69th season with a presentation of musical gems from the Romantic period.  Featured works and composers include:  Franz Schubert’s Mass in G for choir, chamber orchestra and soloists; Schubert’s Trout Quintet; Franz Liszt’s Sacred Pieces for choir; favorite choruses from Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah; and motets for choir by Johannes Brahms.

Christmas with the Choral Guild of Atlanta
An annual favorite, complete with featured soloists, instrumentalists, and audience participation,
this concert is sure to make everyone’s season bright.  Featured works from around the world include:  Pablo Casals’ Nigra Sum, Robert Shaw and Robert Russell Bennett’s arrangement of The Many Moods of Christmas, Berlioz’s Thou Must Leave Thy Lowly Dwelling, and Johann Ritter von Herbeck’s Pueri Concinite.

Songs from the Heart
The Choral Guild of Atlanta presents love songs from Europe.  Selected works include excerpts from Dvorak’s Moravian Love Duets, Brahms’ Leibeslieder Waltzes, French Chansons, and courtly madrigals from England and Italy.  The concert also features soloists and period instruments.

World Folk Traditions
The season’s final concert explores Folk music from the continents of Africa, Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Australia.  In addition to choral offerings, the audience will hear the talents of a professional storyteller expounding upon aspects of American folklore and a hammered dulcimer artist performing Appalachian folk music.
